The Norseman.

Have you heard of this race? It’s an Ironman distance race – but absolutely insane. It’s in Norway. You swim in really cold water, and climb a ridiculous amount on the bike and the run.

About 250 start the race (out of many more who try to get in), but only 160 get to complete the main course – the first 160 to hit a certain checkpoint on the run. The rest are diverted to a different, slightly less strenuous route.

A local triathlete just completed it, and then I learned more from this article in Triathlete. And here is a little video snippet.

I can barely do a flat Iron course in the time allotted, so I’m quite certain I will never do this race. But what an amazing feat for those who try it, let alone finish it!
