Swim race vs long distance tri

There is a local swim meet in town tomorrow and some Masters swimmers compete.

So, logically, our coach gave us a workout this morning to prep any racers for the meet (note I’m not included!).

In my world (long distance triathlon), the day before a race means take it easy. In the week before, I do shorter, hard bursts, but very little or nothing the day before.

Swimming is apparently a different technique. We didn’t do just a little speed work for muscle memory. No…I think it was one of the harder, faster workouts I have done (okay, not me personally, but in terms of the coach’s expectation).

Weird!
