It is possible that an increasing number of people will work for themselves throughout the next decade or two.
Through technology we are more easily able to find the people who want a niche product. Someone makes a living selling plastic food for dollhouses. Another shares stories on a monetized blog about old-timey collectible watches. Someone else finds a market big enough for a happy life reselling used clothing.
Hopefully, as we find people with the same niche interests, we will continue to interact on a bigger-picture level with people who may share one interest but personify different interests in other areas.
