The lowest common denominator.

We have a choice in all we do. We can hold ourselves to the lowest common denominator. We can decide that others are also not doing the task well so we don’t have to either. As long as we are just a little better or at the status quo, we will be fine.

Or, we can stop comparing ourselves to others. We can set our own priority level. We can decide how good we want to do a certain thing and stick it through.

I realize that in some areas I have been doing just enough to get by. And how much better would I feel about myself if I held myself to a higher standard? In part just for me. But when we hold ourselves up we might also hold up those around us to pursue a higher standard. To move that lowest common denominator just a little bit higher.
