We often assume other people know something. Perhaps we think based on their position or place in life, they will have knowledge of x y or z. It might feel like not making the assumption that they have that knowledge is insulting to them. However, if we assume incorrectly it might be even worse.
What if we switch our mindset and start providing foundational information in a polite manner all of the time? That way we know we’re on the same playing field if we’re having a conversation about the work we do or the work they do or what we’re asking someone to help us on.
