For the last couple of years I have attempted to do one yoga workout per week. Clearly not a huge part of my life, but it is something I would like to do and I figure I can devote approximately 30 minutes per week to the practice.
Instead of finding a local class, which has its benefits but also comes with cost and added time, I stumbled across someone providing yoga videos online – Yoga with Adriene. She has a variety of different videos online, including a number of 30 day programs. These have completely different workouts each day, and while it is supposed to be done daily, which I imagine has far greater benefits, for me it has lined up perfectly with a 30 week Ironman training program.
She describes things well, is calming yet funny, challenging but recognizes that challenge isn’t what we want or need everyday, and appears genuine and a joy to do yoga with. Plus, sometimes her dog shows up in videos which is kind of awesome. If you are looking for an at-home yoga practice, or if you are not but recognize that it is something you should be doing, I highly recommend her YouTube channel!
