If you run a business (well), you carefully track your expenses. You categorize what comes in and goes out. Later, you look at the big picture and project for the future. Are you on track to hit your goals? Do you need to make changes – to spend less, earn more, bring in outside capital, find a new expert in an area…etc.
A larger organization might even have a person or a team dedicated to just this type of analysis. And, a well-run organization’s leaders likely have a whole bunch of advisors helping in different ways.
What if you treated your personal life this way? Do you categorize and then review with your partner (if applicable) on a regular basis? Do you project in the future and decide where to cut and spend to reach your goals? Do you even have defined goals for the business of life?
