Changing should to could.

A friend recently reminded me of something our teacher said in a recent retreat/course/life experience. He said, when we think of something and decide that we “should” do it or not do it, what if we shift our own thinking and say to ourselves, yes, that is something that I “could” do.

This replacement of two letters with one, reminds us that we have choice in what we do and how we approach every situation. Whether you end up doing the thing or not, it might help relieve resentment if you are feeling you should do something because of what someone else or society says.
