I was scrolling through podcast notes looking for something and noticed the comment section.
Who has time to comment after listening, I thought?
Then I realized that I would generally not, in large part because I would assume that the well-known podcast host would most certainly not have time for a response, or to even read the comments.
Underlying this is the feeling of ‘I’m not good enough to interact with this person.’
The people who are commenting don’t have this same hold up. Perhaps they are wasting their time (“don’t they have anything better to do?”), or perhaps they are engaging in meaningful interactions with others, including their favorite hosts. Perhaps this experience enriches their lives. And perhaps these are the type of people that go for things in life, rather than hiding behind ‘I’m not enough’.
