Laughing at and with myself.

I used to feel guilty when I didn’t feel that I was being ‘productive’. Which of course was filled with all kinds of judgment as to what was and wasn’t productive.

But I am shifting that and recognizing the importance of play, whimsy, lightheartedness, and just spending time with people (all of which are completely productive activities but had not been in my prior view… They are productive because they are human and satisfying and allow me to be joyous and spread it).

And some of this is simply a mindset. Or being in the right mood. I ride my electric bike regularly to work, but recently in the midst of a very busy and work focused week, riding in the rain with my snow goggles on felt entirely silly and laughable. It turned into a moment of play in an otherwise serious day.

How can you add more play to your life?
